Pinterest was the biggest uh traffic Source by far then i had 405 4500 and soon we were at 10 000 i wanted To get on mediavine so it took me I would say after taking your online Course and reaching 25 000 it took me around six months But it took me also a few months to get Approved and then implement everything [Music] Hey guys it's anastasia of Anastasiablogger.com And today i wanted to talk to a guest It's common you know if you if you know Something about me i share a lot about My personal journey in blogging i share My pinterest tips online business tips In general but today i want to talk to a Guest her name is victoria And victoria will share her Story about her growth of um We can call it online business by now Right victoria yeah i actually call it Online business from the very beginning Aonif was a small Website but i prefer to call it an Online business That's the right mindset i guess because It helps you you know you start on the Right foot from the from the beginning So when did you start your site is Called we mean career right Yeah my website is called women career i Started on the website three years ago
Like i registered their website three Years ago But it took me a quite a long time to Actually put all the content i wanted to Have and to launch it but i actually Have a Very interesting story concerning my Entrepreneurship and how i got Interested in making money online Because i wanted like i would say like Five years ago i wanted to learn polish And i Searched for different podcasts and Sources online how i could do it and i Found a guy Who actually had a podcast on finances And Online business and i started listening To him Trying to learn polish so i had no idea That i would start a business i didn't Want to start a blog like Like no um idea at all before and then i Started listening polish it was in Polish exactly it wasn't polish so i Started listening to the guy like Learning polish more and more and he was Talking a lot about blogging about Making money online and in that way i Got so inspired and one day as i was on Holiday and i actually was not very Happy with my job i thought okay enough Is enough i'm quitting and i will start My online business so this was crazy
Like everyone said hey what are you Doing And did you really quit right away No i actually wanted to quit i wanted to To come back and quit uh because i had a Very difficult um Job situation with my boss but i came Back and talked to that boss and he told Me okay i quit and i thought wow so now I can i can stay because i don't have That crazy father squid yeah So then um I decided that i would stay for a while And learn more and Like also save some money and then i Actually quit So um i knew i would love to do Something online i didn't know exactly What i knew that i wanted to produce Online courses but i also didn't know Like which topic to take and so on so it Took me quite a while a few months to Decide what to do and then i found A career coach in the us i knew here From Um from Another project we worked on together And we got an idea to create an online Course together like she would um Create content and i would create a Website and promote it So that way uh somehow it developed two Women career Awesome so
What we can tell that from the beginning You worked on it like almost full time Because you you know you quit yeah like Like i would not say from the beginning Um and until now but in the very Beginning i worked on the project full Time And Then I would say like one year later i Started building a team and after that i Could also take other customers but not Other like i i decided i would love to Have customers because um i i Work in digital marketing and i have a Lot of experience and people were asking Me if i would love to have them with Some projects and this way i decided to Balance like my Personal blogging with um serving Customers Okay So that that's a lot on your plate so You're you have this uh on some clients Uh like on for digital marketing you Have this site how much time do do you Estimate that you're spending um Building the site i think for beginners It's very important especially for Someone who is not maybe ready to quit Your their job yet so they want to Understand how much time uh it might Take them from their daily you know Daily hours that you have yeah
Um As i said in the first year i worked Almost full time And after that i would say it was like Half half But i would definitely not recommend Quitting the job first so i would Definitely recommend to to keep the job And start Something my my biggest mistake was that First i tried to do everything perfect From the very beginning like also Finding the best attorneys always to Create my legal text and to find the Best graphic design and so on and it Took me a lot of time but it also Uh was from the financial perspective it Was also i believe my mistake so i would Not recommend to quit the job i would Say just Start quickly try to do everything um Like At a good level Uh and that way you don't need to spend So much time so i believe because right Now i have to say that i actually um i Got a new job After three years of That thank you after three years um From that project Because I now i think that personally to me um i Would love to have different income Sources and blogging is one of them it's
Like automated it's great but i would Also love to have A full-time job right now so and now i Have my team i have a few i would say Like three four people who helped me a Lot with the website And uh i spent like one hour or maybe Three hours a week Uh working on women career That's really important uh thing to for People to know that they they don't have To always work like it does take Initially some time and effort to start Building your blog mostly you invest in The beginning your time and effort but It's one of those types of businesses Where you can automate a lot of things You can delegate a lot of things you can Hire writers probably i'm not sure if That's what you're hiring help with uh At least i personally um sometimes People ask me do anastasia still write Everything no absolutely it's impossible To to grow um to grow your blog and do Business like i also do one-on-one Coaching calls i do pinterest audit Calls so it's impossible to continue Working and it doesn't and then kind of Makes A ceiling onto your growth so you have To hire help um For people who have let's say who have Kids and who or for someone who wants to Continue their full-time job um
Definitely hiring help is a good Solution to continue growing your blog To be it happened actually um somehow by A coincidence because i was not planning To hire anyone at that point but My Um My aunt was um learning english and was I wanted to practice and i asked you Okay do you want to help me with a few Things and that way it was really like a Coincidence but i noticed immediately How great it was to to give her some Stuff and after she she told me that she Really Would love to have another job and she Would love to quit so after that i hired People like on purpose so it was really Amazing to have all that help Yeah i actually hear it from other Bloggers that they uh they kind of they Pay to even to their children Basically to their teen children because Um well at least the part of content That is like creating pins for pinterest For example is something that a lot of People can do It's quite an easy skill that you can Learn fast and if english is uh well at Least if someone maybe it's not their First language but they learn english And and they improve it uh it's also you Don't need to write a long text on the Pin it's just a very short uh text so um
Yeah creating pins is one of the things That it's kind of easy to to to hire Help for for it yeah Well so now we All already mentioned a couple of times Pinterest but what are the main traffic Sources for your site In the beginning In the beginning it was really pinterest So We launched the website um in may 2019 And like i started creating pins but i Didn't have a lot of traffic and Traction And i started um searching online like For tips what to do how to get more Traffic and then i found your youtube Videos and loved them a lot because you Were one of the people who gave uh very Specific information But then i have heard about your online Course and decided to sign in that's Great that you decided not just to Scramble around because i can tell you That right scramble around for free Information because at the time when i Started my youtube it was um kind of I i think that at that time my youtube Also grew quite quickly i think there Was maybe maybe just a few channels that Tried to talk about pinterest All the bloggers tried a little bit uh To talk about pinterest but they they Gave up very quickly because maybe they
Thought that there is not a lot to talk About constantly and so i just kept Talking and kept making new and new Videos and and uh I guess that was the reason why i stayed Longer than the others on this topic and Became kind of The source of all things pinterest Yeah Um so Pinterest became the first traffic Generating platform for you i guess in The beginning now how did it Go through the years uh how does it work Now So actually um for the first year Pinterest was the biggest uh traffic Source uh by farm And then as we got As as their domain um got older and got More trust from google google search Organic search um is generating much More traffic than pinterest But also we changed a little bit the Focus like which content we publish and That content i would say is very popular On on google Google search and this is why we get so Much traffic So it's also based on the niche as well Right depend so which type of content You create it depends on that depends Which platform will get you more exactly Traffic yeah and i believe this is very
Important because it's like really Depending on what your business is about You have to Check which platforms are the best for You for example for career topics Instagram is not really relevant at all But for other topics like fashion Instagram could be a great source of Traffic and this is why for me it was Really important to get on pinterest Because i knew that career topics are Still very popular on pinterest and this Is why i started it from the very Beginning Right Okay so um pinterest google and uh In term in terms of maybe i can ask you So you you said that the quant the types Of content and they are different maybe You could tell us more about what kind Of content since my channel is still Mostly about interest maybe you could Just give us a little glimpse of what You learned from me or from my course What helps you grow on pinterest what Kind of topics or what kind of content Worked better for you on pinterest Um from the very beginning actually this Our strategy was to Create listicles like articles with um Bullets and information and It's click baiting that works the best On pinterest so actually we have like 30 Articles that have very click-baiting
Titles like never do this on at work or Never do this um during your job Interview and so on this kind of Articles work really well on pinterest They don't work at all on google of Course But also what works our resume templates Are not bad For pinterest but what i learned from You Is mostly how to plan everything How how many pins uh to put but also all The technical stuff And In the very beginning i had no idea Really how is it possible to create 25 Pins a day and i thought like wow this Is crazy like i won't be able to do that And after your course i understood okay This is so doable you just have to Create a few Pins for every article and then um post Them On different boards and this way you get Really a lot of content within a few Hours So this was i guess the biggest um tip Back then but also many other things and It was like two years ago i don't Remember everything what happens Yeah but But it's cool that uh something that you Learned like two years ago pinterest Still drives the traffic you said that
Your site grew and google started Driving which is awesome because google Traffic it's more targeted always Because people are not just randomly Browsing something they're searching for A specific keyword but uh so what was uh What how soon did you see the results How soon did your traffic grow since you Started actually working focusing on Pinterest Uh in the first months i had like before Your web online course i had 500 visits During the months And then in the second month i had 1500 And i guess somewhere in the middle i Already took the online course then i Had 405 4500 and soon we were at 10 000 And actually from you i've learned that Whole idea of mediavine ads because my Initial idea was to sell online products But then Make a little note because maybe someone Watching this video doesn't know what We're talking about so mediavine it's Just um an ad management platform they Manage ads from google adsense from all The other different like uh Media net there are many other players On the Uh on the internet that want to buy ads And mediavine basically manages the Auction between of them and because Media it's just not not the only company
Mediavine but uh it used to be the one That everyone wanted to work with Because they had 25 000 minimum require Required traffic per month and then it Moved this year to 50 000 but me Everyone still wants to work with Mediavine because well first of all 50 000 is still less than the other premium Ad networks uh want uh the other one is Called a thrive and i want 100 000. so It's really not so easy to achieve for Someone who just starts blogging And And mediavine has awesome customer Support i'm not getting paid to Recommend them at all They don't have any affiliate program Which is unfortunate because i've Referred so many bloggers new bloggers To them Um But they basically don't they don't need Any referrals because they do Really great job at uh improving your ad Income so if you would work with google Adsense you probably with the same Amount of traffic you would be getting At least Seven maybe even 10 times less money Because just because mediavine is Managing your ads in a way that Allows you to make more for the same Traffic So sorry
It was maybe longer than it is no it's a Very nice explanation but what i want to Say that um after a few months um Getting Pinterest traffic i thought okay so Maybe we could also have another income Source And I wanted to get on mediavine so it took Me I would say after taking your online Course and reaching 25 000 it took me around six months But it took me also a few months to get Approved and then implement everything Because Actually my strategy in the very Beginning was to create a lot of content Uh but That was not very long and media vine Wanted to have longer articles so we had To rewrite almost all the articles we Had on the website So on one side it was okay because i Knew which articles worked and which not So i just killed all the articles that Were not performing on pinterest but on The other side of course it was an Invest and time invest to Order All the articles and make them much Longer So All together i would say it was like
Nine months to get to mediavine Got it well that's also important to for People to know the realistic to have Realistic expectations i can say that uh It's not enough just to reach the Traffic level that they want but you Also they also want to see quality of Your content so if you manage to get With clickbaity or with the low Let's say low text um content you manage To reach that traffic from pinterest you Need to prepare your site before the Before making the application i actually Recommend people to before making the Application to make sure that on top Like on their home page at least that They have like 10 or 20 articles that Look like that look longer even though Maybe the the top generating Articles wouldn't be those but at least When someone from medium and it's real People like you and i they they will Just land on your side and if they see All they see is just roundups or Listicles they will think okay this is Shallow content but if they see at least The top 20 articles that are longer they Will think maybe these 20 articles they Will it just takes longer for google to Pick up the traffic So they see the potential of this site If there is um if there is some content At least on the home page you know It does makes make a difference because
You might have that content even Somewhere Like birdie under the other types of Content on your site but you want to Make Make it clear for them that you have Longer content on the site yeah but i Also believe that they check very Thoroughly right now because we had some Articles that were very long and they Were all presented on the home page and Our top articles were all so long but um It was not enough so we really had to Rewrite almost the whole content and we Still have have i would say like 20 Articles that were short and they told Me as they accepted us they told me okay You still have a few articles that are Short so we had to Hide them on the website so that nobody Could find them Um And That way we got approved so they're Really very thorough with everything Got it well uh you guys you need to know That don't get scared because there are Other also networks that can accept you With ten thousand like it's called izoic The rpm revenue per thousand of um Visitors is lower with the izoic there Is also monometric lower with than with Mediavine but still it's much higher Than with google adsense and they since
They're uh the the requirements are Lower they also they will ask you to Have quality content but it will not be As high the requirement as for mediavine Yeah but even mediavine is all doable It's just a matter of time so i don't Want to scare anyone it's really it's a Great network and if you want to achieve The goal of getting there it's really Doable Yeah absolutely and one one more note uh I wanted to make about that um Since we just Stumbled upon and started talking more About mediavine is that They want mostly u.s traffic all the Premium ad networks and it's not because They're very picky or whatever it's just Because with the us traffic you're Getting paid a lot more than let's say With traffic from anywhere else actually Even from canada traffic will cost Probably like I think like three times lower than from The United states so they they will expect That your traffic is mostly from the United states and in that sense Pinterest can help you improve this and This stat if you get a lot of google Traffic from all over the world because People speak english in different Countries as well Uh pinterest can help you improve that
Percentage of us-based traffic Um sometimes so sometimes it makes sense If you if your website is already Getting a lot of traffic from google but Somehow you're not reaching that uh that Mark with the us-based traffic sometimes Pinterest helps just a little bit of Pinterest traffic can help you improve That percentage Yeah exactly But you mentioned that mediavine is just One of the income streams uh maybe you Would like to share something else what Is what else do you do uh on the side Yeah as it was planned from the very Beginning we sell online courses with we Sell some templates uh we also have Affiliate program With amazon so Uh i love to have for different um Traffic sources and income sources in The case of i don't know like Seasonality or any algorithm changes It's really great not to be um Only um dependable on one source And this is why i would also love to to Have other ones so we are working on it But until now it's conventional Information Got it got it well it's good people Already know something they they know Where they can aim to accept On top of media vine i always say that You need to either
Work with affiliate links you need to Diversify if Definitely maybe not from the very Beginning because when you're just Starting your priorities just to get Traffic Because really if you don't have any Traffic at all then whatever the only Thing that can work with low traffic is Probably when you are selling your own Services because you don't need to a High volume of traffic to get one or two Clients if you do some one-on-one Services uh if if that's the type of Service like imagine that you provide Any kind of you know consultancy and you Need you or coaching then it's enough to Have a couple of clients per month to at Least make a living with that And in that case you don't need a huge Volume of traffic because it's just It's just you you cannot Handle too many clients as well with That type of service yeah and in general I believe that in the beginning it's Really very important to concentrate on One traffic source and one income source And then once you handle it really well Then you can Include another one i agree Well maybe you could uh give some Best tips whatever number of tips you Want to give to people who are just Starting
Yeah as i already said i actually Believe that it's important not to try To do everything on your own so Get help as soon as possible even with With small things first And then Like expand um That's part like um hire someone to Write text for you to do graphics um Everything then as i already said also Not try to do everything perfectly from The very beginning it should be good Enough but don't invest too much time And money trying to optimize every dot It will not Really Bring you as much as you expected uh Your your velocity will be so slow that It will just don't make sense for you And um [Music] I believe it's also very important to Invest in your education and take time To learn something because for example i Come from digital marketing my Experience is in digital marketing and i Thought okay i know everything so like i Will do it as quickly and i will develop Everything but then i understood that Business and Some traffic sources are completely Different from what you did before and You still have to become from the very Beginning
And this is why i really believe that we Have to learn a lot but we also have to Test a lot and what works is great but If it if something doesn't work Just maybe try to to tweak it a little Bit or try something different like try To be creative and just Stay on track And Yeah business is hard sometimes so Just test and do your best and it will Work one day Awesome that's uh really inspiring Talking to you because also uh because When you started your blog you told you Told me that it was from the beginning With this business mindset and from all The tips that you shared one one line is Like be with this business mindset it's When you're investing in uh hiring People uh because definitely if you do I think i would just make a little note Here that you need to know what you're Hiring first you need to try to do it Yourself because you can't hire someone If you don't give them clear Instructions and to give them you need To know how it works and how to do it Uh so you still need to learn definitely How to do it first yourself and then Hire someone that yeah yeah i guess it Depends like it depends on what you want To do if you hire someone on on a basic Level or just you know some help then
